“Dojang aims for top quality. They offer a premium martial arts product from the curriculum, to the training studio, to the equipment, to the classes and instruction. If it’s being offered at Dojang, it’s second to none. Moreover, at Dojang, they aim for mastery, not mass consumption. As Robert Lynds, owner and head instructor says himself, “Dojang is not all you can eat.” Dojang doesn’t want to turn out tonnes of black belts, they want to develop potential and encourage healthy lifestyles. If Dojang does anything, it defies expectations of what a martial arts studio can be. So, if you go in expecting anything, expect the best.”

Before coming to the Dojang, I had been trying various forms of physical activity in order to stay in good shape and to actually enjoy myself at the same time… with no luck. Then I found out about the Dojang, and Robert was generous enough to let me try it out for the first week. After just my first class I knew that I had found what I had been looking for. I have been attending the adult classes at the West Point Grey studio for 4 or 5 months now, and I have only good things to say about my experience.
I have finally found great exercise that I really look forward to. Not only do I feel healthier and fulfilled, I also learn cool moves! From amazing teachers, too – Robert and his instructors at the Dojang are all very encouraging and committed. They put 110% into every lesson, and provide a safe environment full of respect.

I would like to express my gratitude to all that Robert and the Dojang have given me – thank-you!

“I am very pleased to write this letter of character reference for Robert Lynds who is an instructor and owner of Dojang Studio in Vancouver.
My two grandchildren have been students at this studio for one year and look forward to their twice-weekly lessons. They are particularly pleased when Robert is in charge because he is, by far, their favorite instructor!

Robert is very understanding of each student’s personality and everyone is treated with respect and dignity. He conducts his sessions very professionally and takes great pride both in his studio and his students. There are rules, but they are enforced with courtesy and kindness.

The studio is very clean and is operated in a very professional manner.”

As the parent of a Dojang student, I have known Robert Lynds for just over two years. During that time I have found him to be committed to his business and passionate about his trade.
Robert has been a motivating force in both my daughter’s martial arts and fitness development. As a result of her participation at Dojang and work with Robert and his instructors her confidence has increased as well as her physical conditioning. Even on days when she is tired and doesn’t feel like going to Dojang she comes away feeling refreshed and positive about her experience and training.

If you’re considering martial arts training for your child I recommend Dojang.

“My kids have been attending classes at Dojang for many years now and they have progressed and learned not just martial arts techniques but also good nutrition, self awareness and physical fitness training while having fun along the way.
Robert’s ninja games and sparring matches have gotten my kids really excited about learning more! I think Robert and Dojang in general provide a good safe place for kids to learn, get in shape and express themselves physically.

I’ve been inspired to do personal training there myself and have really enjoyed it over the years. I’ve also learned some self defence techniques there that I think are truly useful for anyone who wants to increase confidence and fitness levels at the same time.”

Robert is one of many instructors that I have had over the years, but he stands out as one of the very best. Dojang’s approach toward training, mentoring and bettering its clients is compelling and fosters an atmosphere of growth.
I have found better health, improved focus and a community of amazing people all under Robert’s Dojang concept. Did I mention that I did so while enjoying myself!

Craig and May Chilton -

We have three young children, two of whom (ages 5 and 7 yrs) have been members at Dojang’s studio on west 10th Avenue, Vancouver for over six months. It has been a great experience for them. Initially, we were interested in only signing up our 5-year old son for Dojang classes, but our 7 year-old daughter also joined, and they have both enjoyed it. It’s terrific exercise, and — especially for our son–a safe and fun place for him to expend his excess energy.

More importantly, dojang has been a great learning experience for our children.I has helped them discover the importance of self-control, concentration, discipline, and hard work. They’ve watched their own skills improve over time as they have worked hard to learn the moves. They’ve gained much satisfaction and confidence from accomplishing goals on their own. our 5-year old son also joined Dojang’s summer camp for a week this summer and came out of the experience a more mature, more confident young boy.

Through all of this Robert Lynds has been a terrific leader and teacher for our children. From the start, he easily gained their respect and attention. Robert guides the children through the classes with a strong sense of purpose, but he can also inject fun and keep it enjoyable for all age groups. We would not hesitate to recommend dojang, and our youngest (3 yrs old) is looking forward to the day that she can join in on the fun!

My daughter Jessica Yuan has been learning Taekwondo with Robert Lynds in Dojang Studio for 2 years, she has reached Green Belt already. We are so lucky we met Robert in 2007, he is so kind and friendly to the students and their families. He knows how to teach the students according to their own individual character. My daughter loves the lessons so much, she always smiles after class and she always said the time passed so quickly during the class. She likes it and wants to stay there a long time because the class with Robert is so funny. Not only teach the students of Taekwondo, Robert also teach them a lots of knowledges of everything. My daughter got lots of these from him.

In the summer, My daughter joined the summer camp with Robert for 7 days. he leaded them visit some places in Vancouver and told them lots of stories of the city and history. We will join it again in next year.

Dojang is a good place for kids to learning Teakwondo, before met Robert, I visited some other places where teach Taekwondo in Vancouver. I found that only dojang is a happy place for kids, everyone has smile on the face and they learn lots from games, this is the best way for kids.

we will stay in dojang until Jessica get the black belt and we hope our friends and more and more people can know Dojang, know the best teacher of Taekwondo in Vancouver.

We wanted to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to you and the concept of Dojang for the absolutely incredible gift you have given to our son, Cy.
Three years ago, Cy was an 8 year old boy who could not seem to find a sport that he enjoyed. He often felt awkward and uncoordinated, unable to keep up with his peers and had given up many activities.

A parent from Cy’s school had informed us about you and the Martial Arts concept, the great success they had seen in their daughter’s athleticism, and her absolute LOVE for Dojang. Cy was very interested and after trying out a few classes, committed to joining two classes per week. After one week, Cy was hooked! For the first time, he looked forward to participating and keen to learn more, progress through the “belt system” and started making some wonderful friends.

Three years later, Cy has become most determined, focussed and persevering. He now participates 5 times per week to Dojang, is working towards his Blue Belt, and has made it his goal to become a Black Belt by age 14! We would never have imagined that Cy could achieve so much, in such a short amount of time. He continues to amaze us with his coordination, ability to remember Kuon Jun’s (patterns), his incredible strength and flexibility, sparring techniques and respect for the sport.

Cy’s success has undoubtedly come from your very talented teaching abilities. You have the gift of teaching our kids complex technical skills, in a fun and challenging environment. You are perceptive to your students’ needs at any given time; whether it is the need for advice, wisdom, giving confidence, listening, laughing, respect, discipline, or friendship, to name a few. These are truly gifts that extend beyond the gym, and into life’s core values. Watching you teach a class is as entertaining as it is inspiring, and we are truly thankful to have you and the other Dojang instructors as a part of our son’s life during such formative years!

Dojang is great. It pushes you to your limits, helps you reach new heights, and achieve your goals you never thought were possible. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to learn martial arts.
